I'm back! Amazing week on the Costa Del Sol and now I'm back to work and back to blog! File transfers and idea transfers galore today... Programmer, producer and mix engineer Chris Marsh joined me in my studio today. Chris has done a number of remixes for big labels in the past and he had offered to make a few tweaks on That Thing, so after recording some chorus harmonies with top-liner Shaz Stacey yesterday (literally done in 20 mins - girl's a machine!), I invited him round
Uploaded That Thing to BBC introducing last night. Got played on BBC Introducing Sheffield tonight. Amazing result. Think it may have been the first track too. This was submitted under the artist name Liquiid although at some point I will add 'ft. Shaz Stacey'. Follow the link & enjoy: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05b5fp5
As well as some positive feedback form the likes of Phil Harding and Richard Formby I have began to receive feedback from Publishers. Sentric in Liverpool deliver a very 'online' service, or so I thought. I was very surprised to be offered a very personal response, with feedback from Matthew Hoggard. Matthew described That Thing as 'really good' and asked me exactly in which area he would like my feedback, so we are currently entering into a dialogue in which I have asked him
So many things going on now! Today has been mostly spent preparing and sending stems with instructions to various musicians and programmers etc. Just got a synth part back all the way from Utah USA as I write this blog post courtesy of multi-instrumentalist Mike McLellan - sounds excellent too! More social media today too. I have set up a BBC introducing page and tried & failed to set up a new YouTube site. Me and YouTube don't get along! Soundcloud thankfully remains as a vi
Tracks are up on the player now. Really pleased as I just received an email containing very positive feedback and excellent suggestions from uber producer Phil Harding on with some of the tracks here. Would love some feedback from blog readers too! Enjoy!
It was a pleasure to meet with Richard Formby today. A passionate producer and thoroughly lovely chap who has worked with Ghostpoet, Wild Beasts and Pigeon Detectives amongst many others. He is also an associate of Leeds Beckett university and is giving tutorials while my module and course leader Dr Steve Parker is away. I wanted to discuss the academic context of my final project, which I am concerned is losing its focus as I have been spending a lot of time working on track
Ok those breakdowns promised in the previous post might have to wait. Lots has happened since I made commitments to elaborate in yesterday's blog. I think from here I will be giving daily updates as I imagine that the next month is going to get crazy. Recently I have started to send out complete versions of tracks to top-liners for final versions of vocals. I have selected a singer to be the main vocalist for most of the tracks now (one being a duet) and am hoping to have mai
I've been away from the blog for about a week but so much has happened. This is just a quick update and breakdowns of each development will be posted as separate blogs! So here we go... 1) Dancing Competition I went to visit my family and managed to run a little experiment with the help of my daughters and their cousins. I essentially wanted to gauge the reaction of a young audience to my tracks in progress! Some useful observations and results here were obtained! 2) Track Fo
